Public Masses Resume

Public Masses Resume

LAST UPDATE – September 12

Dear Saint Cyril & Methodius Parishioner,

On Tuesday, May 19, Holy Masses in the Archdiocese of Detroit resumed, including at Ss. Cyril & Methodius, although they look and feel quite different from what we used to take for granted.

At our Church, some Masses are held indoors with the congregation wearing face masks and sitting 6’ apart, and some are held outdoors, with 6’ distancing and face masks, in rain or shine, with the birds as accompaniment to our music and the breeze as our heating and cooling. One thing is certain, Jesus is with us, as He has always been and always will be.

These have been challenging times, but we are now able to rejoice as a parish family and celebrate the liturgy together once more. Please read the instructions below thoroughly, in order to understand the guidelines, which are new to everyone. Understanding and following these guidelines will help things run more smoothly during these initial days. Also, please be patient. We are all doing our best to adapt during this transitional period.

Our new Mass schedule is as follows:

WEEKDAY HOLY MASS SCHEDULE

  • Monday, Wednesday at 9:00AM – INSIDE
  • Tuesday, Thursday & Friday at 6:00AM – Outside in the Back Parking Lot
  • Monday – Friday at 12:00PM – INSIDE
  • First Friday of each month at 7:00PM – INSIDE

  • 8:30PM – OUTSIDE in the Back Parking Lot (500+ People Allowed)

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS FOR ALL

  • If you are sick with a fever or cough, etc., PLEASE STAY HOME! Do not come to church and jeopardize the health of others. An outbreak in our church could result in the suspension of Holy Masses in the future.
  • Although everyone is welcome to attend Holy Masses, the AOD’s First Phase of Returning to Mass Plan advises those older than 65 years old (the recommended CDC age), with a compromised health condition and/or who are caring for the sick in any way, are encouraged to stay home (at this time).

NOTE: The dispensation from the Sunday obligation to attend Holy Mass is granted to all the faithful through Sunday, November 22, 2020.

Please remember the important health guidelines to ensure that each of us is doing our part to protect ourselves and our neighbor:

  • Wear a face mask (for indoor Holy Masses). This is mandatory for all who attend indoors Holy Mass.
  • Remain 6’ away from each other (excluding members living in the same household).
  • Sanitize and/or wash your hands often.
  • Refrain from touching your face.
  • Sneeze into a tissue (or your sleeve) and discard the tissue in a designated receptacle as soon as you are able.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR INDOOR HOLY MASSES:

  • Due to the size of our church, only 300 people will be allowed in the church (for the indoor masses) at a time, in order to maintain proper social distancing (6’).
  • Do not stop or drop off people in front of the church doors. (Exception for the handicapped and elderly.)
  • All families (living in the same household) must arrive together in order to properly seat the congregation.
  • Please follow the ushers’ instructions to make the seating process as efficient as possible. Seating will begin pew by pew from the front of the church to the back as people arrive.
  • A mask must be worn before entering the church and must remain on while in the church (except during the reception of Holy Communion).
  • Please bring your own hand sanitizer if possible. (Hand sanitizer will be available in the church to use before receiving Holy Communion.)
  • In order to minimize the health risks caused by handling envelopes and cash, if possible, please use Push Pay for donations. Push Pay is easy to use and is located in the upper right-hand corner of our website home page.
  • Donation baskets will be available at the entry to the church. Baskets will not be circulated during Mass. Please drop your donation/envelope in the basket on your way into the church if possible.
  • The priest will give instructions on the proper way to receive Holy Communion.
  • Everyone will be required to leave the church immediately following Holy Mass in order to allow for proper cleaning and sanitizing between Masses.

NOTE: The restrooms off the vestibule will be available for emergency use only. (Parents must accompany their children to the restroom.)

All other areas of the church building are closed and off limits, as every area of the building that has been occupied must be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized between Holy Masses. Therefore, your cooperation in helping us limit the cleaning and sanitizing time is greatly appreciated.

ALWAYS check the Parish website before you come to Holy Mass for last-minute information. Visit: www.saintcyrils.church

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR OUTDOOR HOLY MASSES:

  • The outdoor Holy Masses will take place, except in dangerous weather conditions. Please dress accordingly and bring an umbrella in rainy weather.
  • Masks are not required for the outdoor Holy Masses.
  • Attendees must bring a camping / folding chair. If you do not bring a chair, you will have to stand.
  • Outdoor Masses will be held in the parking lots behind the church building. You may park in the front parking lot or at the Activity Center and walk to the back parking lots.
  • Please arrive 25 minutes prior to Mass time in order to be properly seated (6’ distance between parties). Please follow the ushers’ instructions. Families must arrive together if they want to sit together.
  • Although there will be markings where people are restricted from the front of the altar, there will not be a marked-off formal center aisle. Please maintain a large (straight) center aisle which is necessary during Holy Communion time.
  • Please bring your own hand sanitizer if possible. (Hand sanitizer will be available to use before receiving Holy Communion.)
  • In order to minimize the health risks caused by handling envelopes and cash, if possible, please use Push Pay for donations. Push Pay is easy to use and is located in the upper right-hand corner of our website home page.

CONFESSIONS:

Registration Required. Registration Forms for Confession are available on the webpage: https://saintcyrils.church/discover/liturgy/confession-reservation/

We look forward to celebrating Holy Mass with you! However, please be respectful of your fellow parishioners and please stay home if you have a fever or cough, are feeling sick or have been exposed to anyone who may be sick or have coronavirus. If we put others at risk by exposing them to coronavirus at Mass, we are putting the entire Parish community at risk and could jeopardize our ability to offer future public Holy Masses.

Thank you for your consideration of others. “See you on Sunday!”
