Hello! We are Rob and Krista Houbeck! We have excitedly embarked on our adoption journey and need your help. First and foremost, please pray for us. Pray for wisdom and discernment and for The Lord’s will to be done in our lives. Not only do we want to bring a child into our family to love and raise, we also want to love and serve the woman who will choose us.

To help support our adoption, just by cleaning out your closets this June and July, you can help us reach our goal of 2,500 pairs of shoes! Please bring us your gently used and new shoes of any size to any Mass on the weekends of Saturday or Sunday, June 13 and 14, and July 20 and 21.

Collected shoes not only help support us, but they will be reused and given a second life by those in need by creating jobs through microenterprise in impoverished countries such as Haiti. Due to systemic poverty and lack of job opportunities, there are so many families that simply cannot make a sustainable wage. In a nation such as Haiti, the following are some facts:

• 72% of the population lives on less than $2 a day.
• 80% of the population lives under the poverty line, and 54% live in abject poverty.
• The average per capita income in Haiti is $480 per year.
